My first YouTube video! A compilation of my favorite movie lines. As soon as I made it, I thought of a million more so I'll probably have to make another one...

Anne Hathaway's Catwoman Costume

From the look of this photo from the set of The Dark Knight Rises, it looks like they are going old school with Anne Hathaway's Catwoman Costume. While I personally think that Michelle Pfeiffer had the best Catwoman costume....

...I do appreciate the Julie Newmar/ Eartha Kitt direction that they are going....

Now I'm just curious as to how her performance will be. Personally, I don't really like Anne Hathaway all that much. I don't think that she has a good speaking voice for Catwoman. I know that that doesn't seem very important, but to me the voice is very important.

Character of the Week: Indiana Jones

This week's character of the week is everyones favorite archeology professor, Dr. Jones. He is portrayed by the incredibly handsome Harrison Ford in four movies, of which my favorite is the first film Raiders of the Lost Ark. When I was a kid my favorite Indiana Jones film was actually Temple of Doom, but I think that that was just because that was the one I saw the most. I grew up watching Indiana Jones films, and have always been a huge fan of Harrison Ford. Here is my favorite Indiana Jones moment, which is also one of the most badass moments in film history.

Song of the Week: Wasted

Spotlight On: Christina Ricci

This spotlight is on Christina Ricci, who is an actress that I have loved since I was a little kid. I grew up watching her movies and basically loved everything that she was in, especially the Addam's family movies. I remember this one Halloween I was really excited about my Wednesday Addam's costume and I was PISSED because noone knew who I was supposed to be! Stupid people... Anyways, here are the roles that I loved her in as a kid (and still love), as well as my favorites of her more recent roles.

Mermaids

I watched this movie a million or so times when I was little, and I always loved Ricci as Cher's youngest daughter, and younger sister to Winona Ryder. She plays Kate Flax, a little girl who wants to grow up to be an Olympic swimmer. Although I absolutely loved this movie, the one thing that I remember the most was Cher's music video to The Shoop Shoop Shoop Song that went with it that featured both Winona and a very adorable little Christina Ricci.



The Addam's Family/ The Addam's Family Values

I LOVE WEDNESDAY ADDAMS! The Addam's Family and The Addam's Family Values were two of my favorites when I was a kid, and of course Wednesday was my favorite character. She had the best lines, and the best moments of those movies were the parts where she was onscreen. Favorites: the sword fight between her and Pugsley, forcing a smile at camp, basically anything she says...



Casper

Another one of my favorites that I watched a million times as a kid. I was obsessed with Halloween when I was a kid (and still am..), so how could I have not loved this movie? Not only did I love Christina Ricci, but I also had a huge crush on Devon Sawa when I was a kid, so my favorite scene was when Casper turned human and went to the Halloween party and danced with Ricci.



Now and Then

This is a really cute movie that also featured other young actresses I liked as a kid (Thora Birch and Gaby Hoffman).



Buffalo '66

I didn't really care for this movie because I CAN'T STAND Vincent Gallo, but I did love the scene where she tap dances in the bowling alley. You can watch that scene HERE

Sleepy Hollow

This movie features Ricci at her loveliest. She plays Katrina Van Tassell, a girl who lives in a village that is tormented by the Headless Horseman. I must also say that Christina Ricci has one of the best movie screams ever. Here's a cute little video I found...



Pumpkin

This is a sort of dark comedy about a sorority girl who falls in love with a mentally challenged guy. It's kind of a weird movie, but I was watching it on IFC one day and I have to admit that it is kind of cute. It is definitely not your typical romantic comedy...

Monster

This movie is mostly remembered for Charlize Theron's Oscar winning role as a serial killer, but it also features a great performance by Christina Ricci as her lesbian lover.



Cursed

This is probably the cheesiest werewolf movie ever, but that's kind of why I like it. Ricci plays a girl who, along with her brother, is turning into a lycanthrope.



Black Snake Moan

In this movie, Ricci plays a sex addict who is chained to a radiator by Samuel L. Jackson, who plans to teach her a lesson.



Penelope

Here Ricci plays a girl who is cursed with a big pig nose. In order to break the spell she needs to find true love, and she finds it (spoiler alert...) with the adorable James McAvoy.



Upcoming: Now she has her own show called Pan Am on AMC. I haven't seen it yet, but it looks interesting. She also has some movies coming up called Bel Ami and War Flowers.

New Girl With The Dragon Tattoo Trailer!

YES YES YES YES YES!!!!! The teaser trailer was really cool, but I have been waiting patiently for a trailer that shows more story. Granted I have read this book, so I know the whole story, it is still really cool to see Rooney Mara and Daniel Craig as their characters. It seems that they've all got their Swedish accents down, and Mara has her Lisbeth Salander look. I liked the Swedish film version of this book, but I have to admit that this one looks REALLY COOL!!!

Character of the Week: Christiane Génessier

This week's character of the week is Christiane Genessier, who was portrayed by Edith Scob in one of my favorite films, Eyes Without a Face. She is a girl who is forced to wear a white mask after an accident leaves her without any skin on her face. Her father is a doctor who is set on getting her a new face by killing innocent girls and replacing her face with theirs. Christiane is a sweet girl who is horrified by how she looks, and wants a new face, but by the end she realizes that what her father is doing is wrong. What I love about this film is that it is not the person with the deformity who is the monster, but the person who is trying to help her. Here is one of my favorite scenes in the movie.

Wuthering Heights Trailer!

Here is the first trailer for Andrea Arnold's Wuthering Heights!!!! It only features one line of dialogue, but you do get to see a glimpse of Kaya Scodelario as Cathy. Apparently it won't be coming out in the US until 2012, but I think that it will be worth the wait!

Spotlight On: Geena Davis

This week's spotlight is a pretty short one, but I love Geena Davis. I have only seen her in four movies, but those four are some of my favorites. She is a great actress and she is also really charming, and has one of the best smiles in Hollywood history. I haven't seen her in anything recently, but I would love to see her work more! Here are some great Geena Davis roles...

The Fly

In The Fly, Davis plays a reporter who falls for a guy who is turning into a fly after he gets into a teleportation device with, well, a fly. One of the movie's creepiest (and most disgusting) scenes is her nightmare where she dreams that she is giving birth to a giant maggot. Her best scene, however, is the ending where she has to kill the disgusting creature that was once the man that she loved. I feel like a huge dork for admitting this, but I actually cried the last time I watch this movie...



Beetlejuice

In Beetlejuice, Davis plays a woman who drowns to death, and then gets stuck haunting her house with her husband while new people move in. They want the people out of their house, so they try to scare them off by possessing them and wearing sheets, but unfortuately nothing works...



Thelma and Louise

Love this movie! Davis and Susan Sarandon are both amazing in this film. They play two girls who just want to go on vacation, but after they kill a guy who tries to rape Davis's character, they head off to Mexico. Davis plays the more emotional of the two heroines, but also the one that really continues their crime spree. Here is one of my favorite scenes from the movie.



A League of Their Own

Here Davis plays a woman who is recruited to be a part of the first female baseball league. While her sister wants it more, she is the one with the more natural talent. While I do wish that her character would have stayed (!), her heart just wasn't in it, and she wanted to be with her husband.

My Review: Straw Dogs

I've never seen the original Straw Dogs, but I'm going to assume that it is better than this one. To be honest, the only reason I went to seet his movie is because of Alexander Skarsgard, and his performance is pretty much the only good thing about it. I could be biased, but I just really didn't care for anyone else in this movie. For the whole beginning of the movie I just wanted James Marsden to stop being a push-over, and for Kate Bosworth to put on a bra and eat something. I mean, damn, all of her bones are sticking out and she just looks strange.
So, this movie is about an actress and her writer husband who move to her parents house while he is writing a script. The town where she grew up is a hick ass southern town where everyone is obsessed with football and hunting (even when it's not hunting season...) Skarsgard plays Bosworth's ex-boyfriend Charlie who is hired to fix there garage with his friends. He plays the worst kind of villian. Everytime Marsden's character tries to talk to him about something, he is all polite and apologetic, so it makes Marsden seem like an asshole. It is a lot easier to yell at someone when they are being an asshole to you. So anyways, they find their cat dead in their closet, and instead of accusing Charlie and his friends, he ends up going hunting with them. So, they abandon him in the woods and Charlie goes back to the house and rapes his wife. I thought that it was really strange how they filmed it like a sex scene. I mean, they have the shot of him taking his shirt off, and they even have the camera go up his chest. Yes, Alexander Skarsgard is a VERY sexy guy, but we're not supposed to think that he's sexy when he's raping her!!! We should be horrified! What makes it creepy though, is that he doesn't seem to think that he's doing anything wrong. So anyways, after that is over, another guy comes in and rapes her too! This guy is nowhere near as good looking as Skarsgard, so of course they have her yelling, crying, and screaming during this part. WTF? What pissed me off even more is that she doesn't even tell her husband, or insist that they get the hell out of there.
So, theres this mentally challenged guy named Jeremy who thinks that this drunken guy's (James Woods) daughter is his girlfriend, and you see him and her thoughout the movie. Towards the end, he ends up killing her by covering her mouth when they heard her dad  looking for them. Marsden's character hits him with their car, so they take him back to the house. James Woods is freaking out about his daughter, so he's looking for him and he hears over the radio that they are at Bosworth and Marsden's house. So, they go over there and demand to talk to Jeremy. Marsden refuses, so they get violent. Then all hell breaks loose and Marsden kills them all.
To me, it just all seemed really unnecessary. When the cop came, I would have handed Jeremy over, especially since he did something to the girl. It is just so stupid because it seems like it could have been handled a lot better. I'm not saying that if they handed Jeremy over to them that everything would have been fine, but I don't know... I just thought that it was weird that he went from push-over to psycho killer guy in like two seconds, especially since they only went there to get Jeremy. Their intention when they got there wasn't to kill them, it was just to get Jeremy and find out what happened to the drunken coaches daughter. Yes, two of the guys were rapists, so I would understand Marsden wanting to kill them, but he didn't even know that they raped his wife. I am just really torn by the ending. They were bad guys who were breaking into their house, and Skarsgard's character and the other rapist guy deserved to die. Right when I saw that bear trap, I just knew it was going to be used... James Woods killed that cop, but he was also freaking out about his daughter. I mean, if it were my daughter I would want to kill that guy too, but he really didn't have to shoot that cop. Gosh, I don't know, I don't really want to think about it anymore. It is good that the good guys beat the bad guys, but I just thought that it was strange that they were protecting a murderer. My rating: 5/10

True Blood Season 4 (Part 2)

I just finished watching Season 4 today, and WHAT THE FUCK!!! They killed everybody! They killed off Jesus, Debbie, Sam's brother, and possibly Tara! How the hell are they going to kill off Tara? I'm hoping that it's like at the end of season 1 when you thought that Lafayette was dead, and then he wasn't. Or at the end of season three when you thought that Sam killed his brother, and then he turned out to be alive, well until this season anyways. Like all season finales of True Blood it just leaves you with a bunch of unanswered questions. Like...

• Is Tara dead? God dammit she better not be!
• What is up with the fairy woman who had sex with Andy?
• Was that really Rene? And if so, how the fuck is he there?
• Why is that one Reverand guy there, and why is he a vampire?
• What's going to happen to Sookie now that she killed Debbie?
• Is Sookie going to get it on with that sexy werewolf guy?
• Is Sookie stupid?

I mean seriously, why the hell would she choose to not be with neither Bill nor Eric, when she obviously should have chosen ERIC! GRRR!! I hate the stupid writers of this show for toying with my emotions so much during that scene. At first they made me think that she was choosing Bill, so I was annoyed. Then I thought she was going to choose Eric, so I was really happy. And then she chose neither, so I was PISSED! Stupid girl. Stupid Stupid Girl!

Well, anyways, even though I am ranting and raving, I loved this season and thought that it was way better than season three. Can't wait for season 5!!!

True Blood Season 4

I am always a season behind on all of my favorite shows because I have to wait for them to come out on DVD. You can watch them online, but unfortunately my internet doesn't work on my laptop anymore. Since I am obsessed with the show True Blood, and don't want to wait for the DVD, I am forced to watch it in the computer labs at school. It is kind of embarassing because there is a lot of nudity on this show and I'm always paranoid that people are looking at my computer screen. Anyways, I just finished episode 4, and I am loving it so far! While I think the whole werepanther thing is a wee bit rediculous, I am loving how you see lots of Eric this season! He is by far my favorite character, and Alexander Skarsgard is just sexy!! I'm loving the whole amnesia plot, and you can totally tell that Sookie is starting to dig him now! Ugh, when stupid Bill had to show up at Sookie's house when they were about to kiss, I was like "GOD DAMMIT!"
I'm just curious about what the hell else they are going to bring to this show. Now there are vampires, shapeshifters, werewolves, fairies, werepanthers, and witches. What's next, zombies and Frankenstein people? Mummies? And BTW, what the hell is up with Arlene's baby? If anyone reads this who has seen the entire season, please DO NOT answer any of these questions, I would like to find out for myself....

Character of the Week: Magneto

This week's character of the week is Erik Lensherr a.k.a Magneto. He is a mutant who has the power to manipulate metal, and is one of my favorite X-Men characters. He has been played by both Ian McKellen and Michael Fassbender, who are both actors that I love. I actually took the bus downtown to go to Target on Friday just so I could get my copy of X-Men:First Class. You had a choice of what cover you could get, so I of course chose the one with Magneto on the cover.

Poor little Erik Lensherr grew up in a Nazi concentration camp which is where he discovered his mutant powers. He grew up to be an incredibly handsome man so was set on killing Sabastian Shaw, the man who murdered his mother.

While he starts out as an ally to Charles Xaviar, he soon realizes that as a mutant, he is better than the human race, and doesn't agree with Charles's sympathies towards the humans.



As he grows older, he becomes more and more of a villian.



Unfortunately for Charles, he loses his powers at the end of X-Men 3, due to the "cure." But, at the end we do get a hint of it coming back when he moves the chess piece...I'm sure that I'm not the only one hoping for an X-Men 4!!! I would also love an X-Men: First Class 2. I'm always down for more McAvoy and Fassbender! Plus I'm really curious to see Magneto and Mystique's relationship grow even more.

My Review: Rise of the Planet of the Apes

This movie here is a good example of why you shouldn't go against nature. You see it in Frankenstein, in The Island of Dr. Moreau, in Jurassic Park, and tons of other films/ books. I thought that this movie was a great prequel, and a good movie all by itself too. It's pretty similar to the Terminator series in that man takes scientific ambition a bit too far. Except instead of the machines getting smart, it is the apes getting smart. While trying to find a cure for Alzheimers, James Franco's  character ends up making his pet monkey Caesar very smart. He can do sign language and his IQ gets higher and higher each year. While he is getting human intelligence, he also gets human emotions, which gets him into trouble. He attacks a neighbor who is yelling at John Lithgow's character and ends up locked up with a bunch of other apes. When he drew the picture of the window on the wall I actually started crying. Poor Caesar. I really wanted to kick Tom Felton's ass while I was watching this movie. He plays such a little shit. Anyways, so Caesar keeps getting smarter, and then he finds his way out of his cage and comes back with some of the chemical that makes him smart and gives it to all the other apes. So, the apes revolt and start attacking everybody.
This is just a really good science fiction film. I really enjoyed watching it and I think that it is really interesting and also has a lot of heart. James Franco is great as always, but I really didn't think that Freida Pinto's role was all that important. She is basically just there looking pretty, but she does that very well. I just love that it is Andy Serkis playing Caesar. They must have used some of his voice too, because I swear I heard a Gollum-esque scream coming from the ape.
I have seen the original Planet of the Apes (and loved it) so I knew that the apes eventually learn to speak, but when Caesar yelled out "NOOOO!" my mouth just dropped open. I also thought that the "Caesar is home" and showing the infected man go on the plane was a very cool way to end the movie. My rating: 9/10

Creepiest Trees

My parent's house is surrounded by trees, so in my bedroom growing up I would always see the shadows of trees coming through my blinds. For some reason, this would always freak me out and I wouldn't be able to sleep because I would be imagining that the branches were moving and coming through the window. Even to this day, I still find trees to be a little creepy. I must not be the only one because there are a bunch of movies that have creepy ass trees. Here are the ones that I think are the creepiest.
Hanging Tree from The Nightmare Before Christmas

While he doesn't have a very big role in the movie, he does have quite a presence with his deep voice and the skeleton's hanging off of him. "Everybody scream, everybody SCREAM!"



Grabbing Tree from Santa Claus is Coming To Town

He is a minion of the Winter Warlock, who holds the future Santa Claus hostage when Winter finds him going by his mountain. But, according to Winter, his "bark is worse than his bite."

Talking Trees from Wizard of Oz

Probably the grumpiest trees ever. How was Dorothy supposed to know that trees didn't like having their apples picked?



Treebeard

If I was climbing a tree and then suddenly saw that it had eyes, I would probably shit my pants. BTW, I love this part because Billy Boyd makes the best scared face ever when he first notices that Treebeard is alive.



Rapist Tree from Evil Dead

Yikes...this one gives me the heebie jeebies. Every time I watch this scene I can't help but go "AAAAGH!!!" This tree tangles itself around her, rips her clothes off, and then, uh well you know... I mean, damn, what could feel worse than that?



Boy-Eating Tree from Poltergeist

This is the one that freaked me out the most when I was a kid just because I trees close to my window. I watched this movie all the time, and while most people freak out during the clown scene, this is the scene that always scared me. It's creepy enough that it bursts through the window, but when it starts EATING him...yeesh...

Spotlight On: Chris Sarandon

This week's spotlight is on the original Jerry Dandrige, Mr. Chris Sarandon. He was in some of my favorite movies of the 80s and was a really handsome guy when he was young. Although I have only seen a few of his films, I have loved the movies that I have seen him in. Here are my favorites of his movie roles.

Dog Day Afternoon

This was one of his earliest roles where he plays Leon, the lover of Al Pacino's character. This is my favorite of all of his performances, and his scenes are some of the best in the movie. You can watch a video HERE

Fright Night

Even though (or because?) he plays a vampire in this movie, this is probably his sexiest film role. I love him as Jerry Dandrige! The part where he is leaving the club and he looks up at Charlie and smiles always makes me smile...



The Princess Bride

"I would not say such things if I were you!" Here is plays that "slimy weakling" Prince Humperdinck. He sure does make a great bad guy. Here is my favorite part with Sarandon, and one of my favorite quotes from the movie.



Child's Play

This was one of my favorite movies when I was a kid. I remember that the VHS cover used to freak me out, so I had to turn it over. Here Sarandon plays a cop who is trying to solve a murder. He believes that it was done by a little boy, but eventually finds out it was done by a murderous doll. One of the best scenes of the movie is when Chucky attacks him in the car.



The Nightmare Before Christmas

Although Danny Elfman does Jack's singing voice, his speaking voice is done by Chris Sarandon. I love his speaking voice, so I think that he does a great job as this famous Tim Burton character.

My Review: Warrior

This movie starts out a little slowly, and just lets us get to know the characters a bit. Tommy and Brendan are brothers who are both MMA fighters. They don't have a good relationship with eachother or with their father because their father was a drunk and their mother died after she left their father. Tommy went with his mother and Brendan stayed with his father, so at the time the movie begins they haven't seen each other in a while.  They go to different gyms and have different trainers, and they both end up in a MMA tournament called Sparta. Brendon is a high school teacher with a wife and kids who enters the tournament because he needs the money so save his house. Tommy is a former marine who we find out saved the lives of a bunch of fellow soldiers. He wants the money so that he can send it to the widow of one of his fellow marines. Like I said before, the movie starts out a little slowly, but it really gets going once Sparta starts. All of the fight scenes in this movie were really cool. Tommy's fights go by really quickly because he just knocks them out right away then leaves the cage. The best ones to watch were Brendon's fights. I'm not going to lie, I actually cried after he won one of them. So anyways, the movie ends up with Tommy and Brendon in the last round of the tournament together. What makes this different from most fighter movies is that it has two protagonists instead of one. I really couln't decide who I wanted to win. I really wanted both of them to win, so during the last fight scene I was just a wreck. I was sitting there with the fists over my mouth all bug-eyed...it probably didn't look very cute. What can I say though, I love fighter movies! I ended up liking this movie even though there were parts where I was getting a little bored during the beginning, and I loved the ending shot of the two of them walking out together. I loved both Tom Hardy and Joel Edgerton as the fighters, and Nick Nolte was good as their drunken dad. My rating: 8/10

My Review: Fright Night

Normally I am really annoyed when I hear a classic horror film is being remade. This was not the case with Fright Night. While I loved the original one, I thought it would be neat to see a more updated version of the story. (If you've ever seen the original, then you know that it is REALLY 80s.) I was really excited to see this, and I had to wait forever to see it because it wasn't playing in my hometown. Now that I am back to school though, I can pretty much see whatever I want. So, anyways, I really enjoyed this movie! It is just a really fun movie to watch and I had a huge grin on my face during the whole movie. The cast is just perfect and Colin Farrell is a really sexy vampire. I do think that they go a little overboard with the white make-up on the vampires, but I'll forgive that. I'll even forgive the use of CGI (which looked not that great in some parts) because I liked this movie so much. This movie is a horror/ comedy like the original, so it isn't meant to really scare people, but it does have its moments to please horror fans like me. Plus, it does pay tribute to the original, like all good remakes should. For example, Amy's white dress at the ending and her wide mouthed vampire face. Plus, there is the cameo from Chris Sarandon!!! When I saw him, I was like "YES!!!"
This movie was actually better than I expected it to be, which is something that I find to be rare for me when I go see movies. I thought that it was interesting how they updated the Peter Vincent character. In the original he is sort of like the Peter Cushing type character in Hammer horror films, and in this one, he is a vampire expert magician. This could have been a horrible change, but I think that David Tennant was great as that character. I even liked Christopher Mintz-Plasse as Evil. The part where Anton Yelchin makes him cry actually made me really sad. I was bummed that he didn't have more screen time. He is just in the beginning and then towards the end. I've always liked Anton Yelchin, so I knew that he would be great as Charlie Brewster. As a bonus, I love it when movies have really cool end credits, and the ones at the end of this movie are awesome! My rating: 8/10

10 Worst Star Wars Lines

Being a huge Star Wars fan, there are tons of lines from Star Wars that I absolutely love. (Most of which are said by that handsome scoundrel Han Solo...) Some classic examples would be "Laugh it up, fuzzball" or "Who's scruffy looking?" along with classics like "May the force be with you" or "Never tell me the odds!" But since I have seen all six Star Wars films like a million times, I have to admit that there are some lines that are like nails on a chalkboard to me. It should come as no surprise that most of them are from the prequel trilogy.

Why I hate it: It isn't a terrible line, I just hate the way she says it.

Why I hate it: I love Natalie Portman, but this one line is probably the worst thing that she has ever done.

Why I hate it: Hayden Christensen is just terrible in this movie, and he's being all cocky. It's in the video at about 1:16.

Who says it: Obi-Wan in Attack of the Clones. It is the part when they are there to protect Padme and the little creepy crawly bug things are put in her room to kill her. Anakin is talking and suddenly stops mid-sentence because he senses something happening in Padme's room and that is when Obi-Wan says this absolutely aweful line! I literally have to fast forward over this part because it is like nails on a chalkboard. Bad bad bad!
Why I hate it: I pretty much said why above, but I'll continue here. It is so CORNY!!! Plus I just hate the way he says it. Ugh.... Its in the video at about 13:33

Just Finished Reading: Confessions of an Actor

Laurence Olivier is one of my favorite actors, so I was really curious to read his autobiography. To be honest, while there were some interesting parts, it isn't really the most entertaining book ever. I love Olivier for his work in films, but he barely talks about the movies he made. He mentions movies passingly and mostly talks about his work on the stage. The only movies that he goes into any detail about are the ones that he directed, like Henry V, Hamlet, and The Prince and the Showgirl. The best parts were definitely the parts about his personal life. Like when he talks about how he wanted to get married so that he could have sex because he was raised super religious, so premarital sex was just a no-no. There are also some good tidbits about his relationship with Vivien Leigh.

Character of the Week: Lorelai and Rory Gilmore

One of my all-time favorite shows is Gilmore Girls. I used to watch reruns of it pretty much every single day on ABC Family, and now I have the entire series on DVD. I love both Lorelai and Rory, and since I could not choose which one I liked more, I decided to make this week's character of the week a double. I have seen every single episode of Gilmore Girls like a million times and I have yet to get sick of it. It is in my opinion one of the best written shows ever, and I love Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel as the mother and daughter duo. Here are some great moments...
